Ex-Stuntman Eddie Kidd

Are you feeling a bit lazy today, or thinking there is something you would really like to do but you haven’t got the enthusiasm to do it? If the answer is yes please read on for a little bit of inspiration.
On Monday 6th June 2011 the ex-stuntman Eddie Kidd completed the 2011 London Marathon.
Eddie Kidd was a stuntman I remember well from my youth, I believe I saw him doing stunts at a show when I lived in London.  His stunts got more and more elaborate and more and more dangerous until the inevitable happened.  In 1996 Eddie tried to complete a stunt which involved him jumping over a speeding car on his motorbike, he failed and consequently ended up in a coma for 6 weeks.  He suffered serious head and pelvic injuries which left him unable to walk.
In order to complete the London Marathon Eddie not only had to train but he also had to learn to walk with a specially made frame and wear a sensor on his left leg to stimulate nerves and muscles to aid with the walking.
Covering 1 mile per day in 8 shifts, Eddie managed to complete the 26 miles in 43 days raising £75,000 for his charity for children with cancer.
How are you feeling now?  Still can’t be bothered?
Elizabeth Taylor - Training Team Leader
